Easter at
St John’s

Easter is the most important moment in the Christian story a journey from hope through heartbreak and into new life. At St John’s we walk that journey together during Holy Week, remembering the final days of Jesus and celebrating the resurrection that changed the world.

Whether you come to church regularly, are exploring faith, or simply want somewhere welcoming to reflect and celebrate, you are very welcome here.

Throughout Holy Week we will gather for services, meals, prayer and celebration — from our children and young people leading Palm Sunday, through a shared Maundy Thursday meal, to the joy of Easter morning with a sunrise worship and baptisms. Come and join us for part or all of the journey.

Palm Sunday
Kids & Youth Takeover

Sunday 29 March – 10:30am

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, remembering Jesus’ joyful arrival into Jerusalem.

This year our young people will be leading the service, bringing their energy, creativity and faith to the morning. Expect a lively, uplifting service as we begin the journey towards Easter together.

Everyone is welcome — especially families.

Maundy Thursday
Agape Meal & Service

Thursday 2 April – 6:30pm
(Booking required for the meal)

On Maundy Thursday we remember the Last Supper, when Jesus shared a final meal with his disciples and showed them the true meaning of love and service.

We will gather for a simple Agape meal (a shared meal that reflects the fellowship of the early church) followed by a time of reflection, prayer and communion.

Good Friday
Service

Friday 3 April – 9:30am

Good Friday is the day we remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

This quieter, reflective service helps us pause and consider the depth of God’s love shown through Christ’s suffering and death. It’s a meaningful moment in the Easter story as we prepare for the hope of resurrection.

It’s a great way for children to celebrate Easter, enjoy some activities together and of course collect some delicious chocolate treats along the way!

Our Green Bird Café will also be open throughout the morning, serving drinks, snacks and lunch — perfect for parents and carers to relax while the children enjoy the activities.

Parents and carers are asked to stay with their children and enjoy the morning together. This event is for school-aged children and their families.

Easter Sunrise Service

Sunday 5 April – 6:00am

We begin Easter Day as the first Christians did — at sunrise.

Gather with us outside around a fire pit as we welcome the dawn and celebrate the good news that Jesus is risen. After the short service we’ll share a simple breakfast together.

It’s a beautiful and memorable way to begin Easter morning.

Easter Sunday Celebration & Baptisms

Sunday 5 April – 10:30am

Our main Easter celebration is a joyful service filled with music, celebration and hope as we proclaim the resurrection of Jesus.

This year the service will also include baptisms, a powerful sign of new life and faith. It’s a wonderful Sunday to invite friends and family and to celebrate together the heart of the Christian message: Christ is risen!
